Mission

L Nour Editions is an artist-run, independent nonprofit publisher dedicated to long-form photographic and lens-based works engaging questions of history, power, landscape, displacement, and the social conditions shaping contemporary life.

Rooted in dialogue with artists from SWANA and its diasporas, the press supports practices shaped by histories of colonialism, migration, resistance, and the politics of representation.

We approach the photographic image as a contested space—one historically used to define, categorize, and control—and support artists who reclaim it as a tool for lived history, memory, and political imagination.

The works we publish include research-based and archival practices grounded in making images and records—questioning how histories are constructed while defining their own.

Through the photobook, L Nour Editions creates space for sustained looking and critical reflection.

L Nour Editions was founded and is directed by Egyptian American photographer Anthony Hamboussi.
